Wedding planning involves hundreds of decisions — and waste management is usually one of the last things on the list. But inadequate bin provision at a wedding can create a genuinely unpleasant atmosphere, with overflowing bins in guest areas and a mountain of rubbish left for the venue to deal with. Getting it sorted in advance takes just a quick phone call.
Why Most Venues Need Extra Bins
Even wedding venues that host events regularly rarely have sufficient fixed bin infrastructure for a full reception. A wedding of 100 guests over an evening will generate significant quantities of general waste, packaging, bottles, and catering waste — far more than the venue's normal provision can handle. Most venue hire agreements specifically require the organiser to arrange waste removal.
How Many Bins Do You Need?
For a wedding reception of up to 80 guests, 3–4 x 240-litre bins positioned around the venue is usually sufficient, plus a larger container at the back of house for catering waste. For larger weddings (100–200 guests), we'd typically recommend 5–8 bins depending on the layout and duration of the event. For very large marquee weddings, 660-litre containers positioned discreetly around the site work well.
Bin Placement — Keep Them Out of Photos
Nobody wants bins in their wedding photographs. We work with your venue coordinator to position bins discreetly — at service entrances, behind screens, or in back-of-house areas — while still being accessible enough that guests actually use them. The last thing you want is beautiful surroundings surrounded by litter because the nearest bin was too far away.
Recycling and Glass at Weddings
A wedding with a well-stocked bar will generate a significant amount of glass. We supply separate bins for general waste, dry mixed recycling, and glass bottles — helping you manage each stream correctly and keep the venue tidy throughout the evening. Having clearly labelled bins also encourages guests to sort correctly, which means less work at the end of the night.
Delivery and Collection — No Day-Of Stress
We deliver your bins the day before the wedding or on the morning of the event, positioning them exactly where you need them. We collect the morning after, or at a time agreed with your venue. You don't need to think about waste management on the day itself — that's one less thing on the list.
A Note on Venue Requirements
Some venues have specific requirements around waste management — particularly country houses, farm venues, and licensed outdoor venues. We're happy to liaise directly with your venue coordinator to make sure our service meets their requirements. In some cases, the venue will need to see confirmation that a licensed waste carrier is handling the removal — we can provide this.
